The department of Commerce came into existence in the year 1998 primarily to cater to the needs of Commerce students. Ever since, the department has grown significantly with its sincere efforts to develop and impart applications of Accounting and Computer skills and also to gain knowledge in the areas of Accountancy, Statistics, Insurance and various Computer languages.
The department conducts teacher and student-centric activities, faculty development programmes, seminars, guest lectures, extension lectures and other commerce-oriented activities. The students are taken on industrial visits and regular awareness sessions are conducted by professional institutes like the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

The Department organized an Extension Lecture on Research Methodology and Project Work, delivered by Dr. B. Sandhya Rani. Students gained valuable insights into research design, data collection, analysis, and effective project preparation, enhancing their academic and practical understanding of the subject.

The Department of Commerce organized an intercollegiate quiz competition on the Union Budget, bringing together bright minds from various colleges. Students showcased their knowledge of economic policies, fiscal planning, and budgetary insights, making the event both engaging and intellectually stimulating.
