Leading with service, Inspiring with Impact
In the heartlands of Telangana Yuvathi Mandali,
A group of passionate women came together with a shared vision to uplift and empower women in the society. Thus, it was born with a humble beginning etched in the spirit of service and dedication.
In the year 1935, on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dasami, Telangana Yuvathi Mandali was started as a result of a few enthusiastic ladies working for the progress of women. The main aim of the Mandali was to work for the Physical, Educational, Economic, Social and Intellectual development of women and children.
To start such an Institution in those days when the women of Hyderabad were kept in Pardas needed a lot of courage and boldness. In spite of many odds, it was functioning successfully due to the encouraging support of the well-wishers like Sri Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, Sri K.V. Ranga Reddy, Sri. Mandapati Hanumantha Rao, Nawab Zain Yar Jung Bahadur and the founder members of Telangana Yuvathi Mandali, Smt. Y. Seetha kumari, Smt. I. Saraswathi Devi, Smt. B. Anantha Lakshmi Devi, Smt. I. Shyamala Devi, Smt. A. Shyamala Devi etc.
In the annals of Telangana Yuvathi Mandali’s history, the name of Smt. A. Shyamala Devi shines brightly as a beacon of commitment and dedicated service. As the former Secretary of the Mandali, her tireless efforts have left an indelible mark on the organization and the lives of women. Under her guidance, the Mandali witnessed unprecedented growth and impact.
The first activity was started to provide facilities like a library, a reading room, recreation and cultural programmes for members. In the year 1955, they started tailoring and sewing sections. Music classes were also conducted both in Vocal and Instrumental Carnatic music with the help of experienced staff. Mandali also came up with welfare programmes for rural women and children at Nacharam, Ramanthapuram, Ankushapuram and Uppal. Creches-child care centres were also taken up by Mandali.
In 1958, a hostel for working women was started. It functioned successfully for about 38 years. In 1955, Sisuvihar and in the year 1956, the Montessori system was introduced by Mrs. Bhaganagar Lakshmi. A full-fledged High school started in the year 1968 with classes I to X.
In the year 1995, a Junior College was started with CEC, MEC & MPC Courses. And in the year 1998, a Degree College was established with B. Com and B.Sc. courses. Telangana Yuvathi Mandali School of Business was also established in the year 2009.
Today, Telangana Yuvathi Mandali stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the enduring commitment to the cause of women’s empowerment. Though its beginnings were humble, its aspirations were lofty, through perseverance and dedication, it continues to be a force for positive change, inspiring generations to come.
